Updated News About the Shooting At Fort Hood: November 6, 2009, 1:46 p.m. EST
The name of the officer who subdued Nidal Malik Hasan has finally been released. Officer Kimberly Munley, a member of the Fort Hood Police Department, subdued Hasan with four shots, bring the Thursday shooting rampage to an end. Reports state that Munley and her partner responded to the distress call in under three minutes, thanks to their close proximity to the scene. Lt. Gen. Robert Cone is credited Munley's quick response to the situation for keeping more people from being injured. Cone is the commanding general at Fort Hood.
She sustained injuries while subdueing Hasan, but is reportedly in stable condition. Officials are still looking for an official motive behind the shooting. More information will be revealed as it is discovered. Hasan is also in stable condition.
Witnesses are also currently reporting they heard Hasan yell "Allahu akbar" before opening fire. In Arabic, this translate to "God is great." No officials have confirmed this as of this time.

A name has been released by the Chicago Tribune for one of the soldiers killed in Thursday's shooting at Fort Hood. Pfc. Michael Pearson, a resident of Bolingbrook, Ill., was one of the victims killed in the shootings. His mother, Sheryll Pearson, spoke to the Tribune early this morning.
More information is coming forth regarding Hasan. Surveillance video from a local 7-Eleven has been released showing Hasan purchasing a routine breakfast the morning of the shooting. The surveillance video, taken at around 6:20 a.m. shows Hasan in a traditional Arab garb purchasing a cup of coffee, which the clerk said was a stand routine for Hasan. The video was taken just seven hours before the shooting took place.
More information is expected to be revealed as the day progresses.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the alleged shooter at Fort Hood, is currently in stable condition. Police raided Hasan's apartment early Friday morning searching for clues regarding a potential motive for the shooting and any other potential information regarding potential accomplices or co-conspirators. It is currently believed that Hasan acted alone in this shooting.
Currently, there are twenty-eight people still hospitalized from Thursday's shooting, but all are in stable condition. Thirteen people, twelve military personnel and 1 civilian, have died from the shootings. Investigations are currently trying to determine whether all victims were a result of the shooter, or if some were injured from crossfire between the shooter and responding officers. The victims are currently being treated at Scott & White Memorial Hospital, located in Temple, Texas. Due to the shooting, they are in desperate need of all blood types.
Following the search of his apartment, more details are starting to be released regard Hasan and the incidient. Hasan, 39, is an practicing psychiatrist at Fort Hood who recently received deployment orders for Afghanistan. Graduating from Virginian Tech, he previously worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
The readiness center was the location of the shootings. This part of the military installation is where soldiers stop right before being deployed for foreign duty and where they arrive back at American soil. Fifty yards away from the shootings, a military graduation was taking place with over 600 in attendance.
As officials gain more information surrounding the tragic shootings at Fort Hood, we will be able to further understand the motives behind what many are calling the worst shooting at an American military installation.
Fort Hood will observe a day of mourning on Novemer 6, including a delay to the duty day. Post security will remain at an elevated status.

Despite previous reports, the alleged shooter is NOT DEAD. He is alive and in stable condition, and is currently in custody. According to interviews Hasan is a Muslim convert who was offended by remarks such as, "ragheads". Colonel Terry Lee said Hasan was not pleased with the way the U.S. involvement in Afghanistan was going and had recently remarked about it.
The female first responder officer who shot the alleged gunman is also NOT DEAD. She was originally reported to have died, but that information was not true. She is alive and stable at this time.
At this time investigators believe the gunman acted alone but they are still investigating the situation.

Major Hasan's cousin said in an interview Hasan never exhibited any type of violent tendencies, he was a good American, and his family is totally shocked at the news of the shootings.

Fort Hood is closed and is on lockdown. The ten victims of the shootings who are being treated at Scott and White Hospital are all expected to make it. The hospitals are asking volunteers to donate blood to the wounded. To get more information call the military base.

At 1:30pm local time, a mass shooting took place at the medical center of the Soldier Readiness Center in the center of the Ft. Hood Army Post. The base was immediately put on lockdown and emergency sirens were sounded several times throughout the day. The attack took place just before an Army graduation event in the Howze Theater, but it is not known if this is a connection to the motives of the shooter.
As of 5pm EST, the death count is tallied at 12 and 31 are reported injured. After raining fire from two handguns on fellow soldiers, the primary shooter, Major Malik Nadal Hasan, was shot and killed. Also included in the death toll is a civilian police officer. All casualties reported occurred in the initial incident. Two fellow soldiers have been apprehended. At this time, their connection to the attack has yet to be determined. Just before 5pm EST, shots were reported at a soldier residence in a neighborhood on base, but confirmation was not offered by Army officials.
Homeland Security, the FBI, and the ATF are all sending agents to Ft. Hood to assist in the investigation. Currently, the FBI states that there is no reason to suspect terrorist involvement in the shootings.
At 5pm, President Obama spoke about the shootings at a pre-scheduled press conference on a different topic. He referred to the shootings as a "horrific outburst of violence". President Obama says that he finds it "horrifying that they should come under fire at an Army base on American soil". Officials at Fort Hood will have the "full resources of the federal government" to investigate the entire scope of the event.
Ft. Hood is the free world's largest military complex. This post is home to at least 4,929 active-duty officers, 45,414 enlisted, and nearly 9,000 civilian employees.
